The Sparta Discovery Homeschool Co-Op is a ministry of Discovered Ministries and Northern Discovery Academy based in Newaygo County, Michigan.
History
In 2017 Discovered Ministries and Northern Discovery Academy was launched. It’s mission is to offer innovative and transformative educational opportunities for the purpose of changing lives and proclaiming the hope of the gospel. This began with a private school on mission to serve families in need of an educational alternative and to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Going into our 9th year at Northern Discovery Academy we have 60 students K-12.
We wanted to bring this mission outside of Newaygo County and into the surrounding counties in Michigan. Discovered Ministries saw Sparta, Michigan as an ideal place that needed further support to homeschooling families and alternative education.
Who Founded Discovered Ministries, Northern Discovery Academy, and this Co-Op?
WinterPromise has been providing interactive, hands-on curriculum to charter schools and homeschoolers for over 20 years (www.winterpromise.com). We desire to offer this educational experience to as many children as we can, and this school is a product of that vision. The model you’ve learned about here on our website is an extension of what our curriculum facilitates — an active, engaged educational process.
Where will this Co-Op be hosted?
This co-op will meet in the building of Sparta Center Church.
Address: 75 North Union Street, Sparta Michigan 49345

Educational Philosophy
This ministry and this co-op exist to build a transformative educational and social experience. We seek to foster a culture of curiosity, where kids love waking up each day to learn more about the world around them. They love it because they are involved with the learning hands-on, trying new skills, and enjoying educational experiences. We are here to provide those experiences inside a Christian worldview, and in a small-group format with a low ratio of students to teachers.
Format and Schedule
This co-op will serve K-6th grade homeschooling students on Fridays from 9:00am-3:00pm. Families will need to apply, enroll, and pay the tuition to participate. Schedule and details can be found on the Experiences & Calendar page.
